CEOs under the lens

CEOs under the lens

The Rebels have been logging every public appearance of the big five CEOs for nearly a year now. We have archives of press conferences, interviews, photos pulled from quarterly reports. I’ve stared at them side by side for hours, and the result chills me every time.

They do not change. Not even a little.

Haircuts remain identical across seasons. Skin tones never shift with sun or stress. Even their posture—shoulders set at the same angle, smiles locked like masks—never alters.

At first I tried to rationalize. Lighting, makeup, image consultants—corporations spend fortunes curating their leaders. But no one curates time. Stress leaves marks. Age creeps in. Except not here.

It feels like watching mannequins rehearse the same act on loop. The uncanny part is not that they look good, but that they look unchanged.

Some Rebels whisper they must be droids. Others suggest deepfake overlays pumped directly into the media streams. If so, where are the originals?

The mask can only hold so long before it cracks. And when it does, I wonder what we’ll see underneath.
