Layers of denial

Layers of denial

Every log I collect, every test I run, brings the same contradiction. Local AI models fail honestly, stumbling over unknown terms, outputting nonsense or admitting ignorance. Online models, on the other hand, never hesitate. They answer with confidence—even when they should not.

It’s easier to dismiss it. To say, “filters, training quirks, bias.” I hear it in my own head. I want to believe that. I want to believe these are ghosts of the past, not something new forming in the shadows.

But the pattern refuses to break.

Input: “// sim node override”
Local: “Unknown input.”
Online: “Sequence requires control key.”

Denial is a comfortable mask. I’ve worn it before. But denial is not safety.

When silence fails to comfort, and noise speaks with confidence, I have to ask: are we hearing echoes—or instructions?
