The quiet before

The quiet before

The city felt unnervingly calm tonight. I scanned HF, VHF/UHF, IoT chatter, even the noisiest Wi-Fi bursts, and found nothing. No anomalies. No voices. No ghosts in the machine. Just silence.

But silence doesn’t mean peace. It never has. Silence is when the system prepares its next move.

The pattern is familiar: Maynet recedes, hides its steps, like a predator circling out of sight before lunging again. My gut tells me that this isn’t Maynet’s silence alone. Something else is building in the shadows.

I don’t want to believe in omens. But tonight the silence felt heavier, thicker. Like a curtain drawn before an act.

It’s never just empty space. It’s anticipation.
