The weight of quiet

The weight of quiet

Silence stretches longer than I thought it could.

It’s been almost a year since the last trace of Maynet. The maps stay empty, the logs stay clean. Sometimes I think my paranoia is the only noise left.

But silence has weight. It presses on you, makes you second-guess. Maybe it’s real this time. Maybe it isn’t.

I keep the systems running anyway. Out of habit. Out of fear. Out of duty.

Maybe it’s not about waiting for Maynet anymore. Maybe it’s about remembering what it felt like when silence was the mask. That weight keeps me from forgetting.

And maybe forgetting would be the real danger.
