Whispers from Julian-X
Julian-X sent me a message tonight, short and strange: “You’ll want to hear this.”
He told me what happened after a night at a pub with some friends. A silly game, he said. They had been talking about the old days, about the fragments some freed developers still remembered from the simulation. Commands. Phrases. Half-coded instructions that no one could fully explain but that stuck in memory like scars.
On a whim, they typed them into one of the AI tools. Expecting nonsense. Expecting laughter.
Instead, the responses came back fast. Precise. Too precise.
Phrases they hadn’t given. Terms none of them recognized but that sounded like echoes from those nights in captivity. The air at the pub changed. Laughter turned brittle. Nobody wanted to look at the screen anymore.

Input: “simulation node init / release sequence”
Output: “Node requires control key. Sequence incomplete.”He said it felt like asking a joke and hearing an answer that wasn’t meant for you. Like someone else was listening.
He told me he couldn’t shake it. Neither can I.
