A pattern of abductions
It’s easy to think the disappearances are random. Developers burn out, go dark, vanish from projects all the time. But the pattern is too sharp to ignore.
I cross-referenced usernames, commits, last known logins. The dots connect into a map, and the picture it paints isn’t comforting. Stockholm. Paris. Warsaw. Berlin. Developers gone without explanation. Always the same type: .NET or React specialists, always those embedded in Azure or Meta ecosystems.
And always followed by anomalies: repos updated at impossible hours, commits without authors, machines booting with no user.
I’ve started to map it manually, pins across a paper map spread across my desk. Red lines connecting them. The network is tightening, like a net being drawn shut around us. If we don’t cut the threads soon, there won’t be anyone left to fight.
