Signals from the captured

I can’t stop thinking about the ones who vanished. Their work is everywhere if you know where to look: abandoned repos, half-written commits, chat logs that cut off mid-sentence. Like a trail of broken glass.

Most of it is silence. But sometimes, there’s something else — a hidden comment, a stray commit message, an encrypted blob that doesn’t belong. I don’t know if it’s accidental, or if they managed to slip it past whatever cage they’re trapped in.

Example:

// still here
// they’re using us
// don’t log in

Those lines don’t match the style of the repo. They don’t match anything. They’re cries for help, smuggled into the only place they knew someone like me might look.

These are their voices, scratched into the walls of digital prisons. It’s not much, but it means something vital: they’re not all gone. Not yet.
