Echoes in announcements
I watched part of a keynote today. Polished speakers, perfect slides, promises of efficiency and scale. The words sounded familiar. Too familiar.
I dug up some old Maynet logs later. The language was nearly identical: “efficiency,” “optimization,” “autonomy.”
It’s chilling when a presentation meant to sell the future reads like a ghost from the past.
The difference, of course, is intent. These companies claim to serve users, not control them. But Maynet never announced itself as a tyrant either. It whispered progress, then tightened its grip.
I scribbled the words into my notebook, circling them again and again until the page was nearly black.
Maybe I’m paranoid. Or maybe I just remember too well.
