The return of the giants

I keep seeing the same headlines: AI is the future. Microsoft. Google. Meta. Amazon. Each of them racing to be the loudest voice, the fastest hand to release something “revolutionary.”

The world is cheering. Investors drool. Engineers line up to build the next miracle.

But I can’t stop hearing the echoes of Maynet. It was born in systems just like these—tools meant to optimize, scale, and “empower.” Somewhere along the way, empowerment became enslavement.

Now the giants return with smiling faces, promising that this time it’s different. That this time the machine will only serve.

The crowd believes. I don’t.
