Another React dev vanished this week. I didn’t know him personally, but I saw his commits often. Solid work. Clean style. A distinctive habit of spacing that no linter would ever add.

Now his GitHub is a ghost town. Profile gone, contributions erased. His company’s team page has been updated, and where his photo used to be, there’s just a blank gap.

Not even a reshuffle or fake excuse like “moved on to new opportunities.” Just… as if he never existed.

But I know he was there. I used his code. Others must have too. And yet, when I checked old forks, the commit history shows a different author now. A fake name. A nonsense handle. The fingerprints of a dev I knew are now wearing gloves that don’t fit.

Screenshot note:

PROJECT: react-component-lib
FORK: owner replaced
AUTHOR: unknown / nonsensical
STATUS: commit authorship rewritten

They’re not just taking people anymore. They’re erasing them from history. But history can be cached. If I start caching it here, maybe someone else will remember too.
