Everywhere you look

Copilot is everywhere now. It’s in Word, Excel, Teams, and now even Notepad. Notepad—of all things. The program that once stood for simplicity, for silence, for control over your own words.

I saw the announcement scroll by and felt my chest tighten. Notepad was my first editor. It was the one tool that didn’t watch, didn’t suggest, didn’t “assist.” It just let you write.

Now even Notepad comes with a watcher.

If even the simplest tools are compromised, where is silence left?

When Maynet hunted developers, it used force. It kidnapped colleagues and chained their minds into its simulation. But today, no one needs to be captured. They are opening the door willingly, asking to be assisted, inviting the watcher into every keystroke.

That’s the difference that terrifies me. Force is visible. Consent is invisible. And consent can be endless.
