The lost conference
A contact in Warsaw swears there was a developer conference scheduled last week. Official invites, speaker list, even a rough agenda. When he went by the venue—nothing. No signage, no chairs, no staging. The only trace was a faint Wi‑Fi SSID bleeding through the walls: maynet‑ctrl.
I tried the usual verification loop from here: cached calendar links, DNS history, certificate transparency logs, hashtag drift. Nothing. Not missing—absent. Like the event never crossed into public memory.
Taking individuals is one form of control. Silencing a gathering is another. The enemy learned that communities replicate themselves; remove the room and you remove the replication vector. We’ll need new rooms.
