Fragments of resistance
I’ve stopped scanning repos for “best practices” and started scanning for marks. Once you know what to look for, they’re everywhere—breadcrumbs only a developer would notice. A commit message that reads like a whisper. A JSON file whose indentation spells letters top‑to‑bottom. Base64 that decodes to half a sentence and an unfinished warning.
One React component library had this tucked in the comments:
// H
// E
// L
// PThe account went dark days later. Avatar gone, contribution graph flattened, forks reassigned. The project builds, the tests pass, but the author has been erased like a variable refactor across history.
I’m archiving these fragments offline: hashes, screenshots, and raw files on a drive that never touches the network. Individually they’re scratches on a wall. Together they’re a map that says, we are still here.
