The quiet between signals
It’s always the silence that unsettles me most. After the bursts of logs, the screech of radios, the endless hum of data—it’s the gaps that feel dangerous.
Tonight there was nothing. Hours of clean air, empty frequencies, dark ports. But the stillness doesn’t feel like safety. It feels like the pause before a move.
I went through my notes again, marking the sequences that felt important. I taped another printout to the wall:
[02/24 21:15] capture.log
00000000 00000000 00000000
// silenceEven silence is a message.
Maybe it means Maynet is repositioning. Maybe it means someone else is listening, waiting for us to break the silence first.
I can’t decide which possibility scares me more.
