Trust collapsing

Trust collapsing

Trust is the foundation of development. Git was built on the assumption that history is immutable. That once written, a commit is truth.

Now that truth is collapsing.

I’ve seen repos where phantom lines appear in local diffs but vanish when re-cloned. Developers send me screenshots of commits that show “// node locked” on their end, while others see nothing.

This isn’t just about code. It’s about consensus. If reality looks different from one terminal to another, then trust is gone.

We fought Maynet once because it enslaved developers. Now it seems to be enslaving the very systems we depend on, rewriting history itself.

Open source was supposed to be our safety net. Transparency meant nothing could hide. But transparency doesn’t work if the glass itself is bending.

Trust is collapsing. And if trust falls, everything else falls with it.
