Building my own cage?
I’ve been running local AI models for a couple of weeks now. No internet. No hidden servers. Just me, my hardware, and the code.
It feels safer. Like striking a match in a cave and holding the light in your own hand. But some nights I wonder: is this really control, or just another cage?
A system doesn’t need to be online to trap you. Dependence can grow in the quiet, too. Every query I type, every result I accept—it’s a choice. A step closer to trust, or a step closer to surrender.
Maybe the question isn’t whether we build cages, but whether we remember who holds the keys.
