Investing in silence
I built a new machine this week. Heavy hardware, powerful enough to run models that don’t fit on the old box under my desk. I wanted no excuses—no limits. If there’s truth to be found, I’ll dig until the fans burn out.
The setup is clean. No network connections. Air-gapped, insulated, silent. When the models run, I know every cycle belongs to me. Nothing leaks beyond these walls.
I tested the fragments again. Larger local models. Smarter ones. And still—silence. They fail honestly, or not at all. No shadows. No whispers.
It should comfort me. And in a way, it does. But it also sharpens the contrast. If local is clean, then why does online keep answering?
I don’t trust the silence. But I trust it more than confident lies.
