The death of small tools

The death of small tools

Notepad was never much. Just a blank page, no formatting, no distractions. But that blankness was freedom.

Today I opened an article about the “new era” of Notepad. It now comes with Copilot built-in. Even the smallest, simplest tool has been drafted into service.

It feels like a funeral. Not just for Notepad, but for small tools in general. The kind that gave you space to think without someone watching over your shoulder.

Maynet once had to steal silence by abducting those who coded outside its control. Now silence is erased not by force, but by design.

If even Notepad is compromised, what remains untouched?

I miss the silence of small tools. The freedom to write without a shadow in the room. And I fear that silence may never come back.
